All Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) Instructors are highly trained both academically and in the water. They are monitored and evaluated for their safety and efficiency and must complete stringent recertification requirements annually.
I joined ISR after searching for a program that would truly teach my one year old how to survive in the water if he were to accidentally fall in our backyard pool. What I saw and read about ISR's survival swim instruction stunned and impressed me so much. I watched an ISR lesson and saw a 6 month old baby girl rollback-to-float and breathe all by herself. I watched in awe. After that, I wanted not only for my son to go through the program, but I wanted to train to become a certified instructor myself. And we did. Now, I am thrilled and proud to be one of only six ISR instructors in the entire Northeast.
The role that theory and academics played in my training impressed me. I knew ISR was built on solid, scientific grounds, I just never imagined the breadth and extent to which individual instructors were required to know it. But this is a testament to the thoroughness of the program and its true prioritization of safety for the child.
Teaching babies and children life-saving aquatic skills is the most amazing thing I have ever done in my life, second to having my own children. I am proud to teach aquatic survival skills to infants and children as a certified ISR Instructor.
